On December 4-5th, representatives from policy research organizations and academic institutions from around the world gathered in Geneva for an event co-hosted by IDRC and the Graduate Institute Geneva. The aim of the 2-day event, 1000 Days of SDGs- Looking Ahead, was to engage in a multisectoral and multistakeholder effort towards achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the health-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The event focused on major challenges and opportunities for promoting transformative change at national and global levels, including through strengthening governance mechanisms, building capabilities to accelerate progress and ensuring accountability, data collection and country ownership over implementation of the SDGs on health.

IDRC, along with the Sustainable Development Policy Initiative (SDPI), Initiative prospective agricole et rurale (IPAR), Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka (IPS), TTI-supported institutions, attended and participated to the event. It was also an opportunity to bring together Think_SDGs, a global network launched in 2015 by the Graduate Institute Geneva and IDRC, to facilitate cross-regional knowledge sharing and collaboration on generating evidence-based policies and global dialogues to accelerate the health-related SDGs.
